Honorarium Position

Overview

The Photography Director oversees ASUS's photography initiatives, ensuring high-quality visual content aligns with the organization’s branding and marketing goals. They manage a team of photographers, delegate assignments, and maintain an organized image archive while collaborating with ASUS commissions, offices, and services to meet photography needs.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

Term: May 1st, 2025 – April 30th, 2026

Hours: 6-8 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Hire, oversee, and manage a team of photographers with guidance from the Creative Deputy and Marketing & Communications Officer.
  • Assign and delegate photography requests, ensuring timely project completion.
  • Maintain and organize the ASUS image archive, providing access as needed.
  • Ensure all photos align with ASUS Visual Identity Standards for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Hold 6-8 office hours weekly, evenly distributed throughout the week.
  • Manage camera sign-out privileges in coordination with the Marketing Officer and Video Manager.
  • Provide photography services for ASUS events, projects, and daily operations.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

  • *Eligible candidates must have paid the Arts & Science Undergraduate Membership Fee
  • 12-month term from May 1st, 2024 to April 30th, 2025 with a time commitment of 4-6 hours/week

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • To hire photographers with oversight from the Creative Deputy and Marketing & Communications Officer
    • Meeting with and reporting to the Creative Deputy and Marketing & Communications Officer regularly
    • Holding six to eight (6-8) office hours per week.
      • It is recommended that these office hours be evenly distributed throughout the week
    • Assigning and delegating photo requests to the photographers and ensuring their completion well in advance of deadlines
    • Communicating with the requester(s) as necessary in order to ensure the execution of projects
    • To communicate with ASUS Commissions, Offices, Committees, and services to seek opportunities to provide photography
    • Checking all created materials and ensuring that they follow the ASUS Visual Identity Standards on correctness and appropriateness.
    • To provide Society members with images from the archive as necessary
    • To create, sign, and adhere to a contract relating to camera sign-out privileges as directed by the Marketing Officer with the video manager
    • To take on photography duties as necessitated by the day to day operations of the team.
