Volunteer Position

The Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance (DNA) focuses on creating safe and accessible spaces, opportunities, and initiatives for students with disabilities to navigate their academics and university experiences. DNA works to represent students who identify as disabled, autistic, neurodivergent, deaf or Deaf, or students with chronic illness, mental illness, or other long-term conditions. The main objectives of this committee are to use an intersectional approach in addressing and combatting ableism, raising awareness on issues faced by students with disabilities, and promote disability justice while opposing oppression in all forms. DNA is committed to addressing accessibility within the educational setting, campus environment, and beyond.

Applications will be available until April 26th at 4:00pm EST.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and facilitate a variety of events, initiatives, and campaigns on topics pertaining to disabilities, neurodiversity, and ableism
  • Work collaboratively with the Queen’s Student Accessibility Services on projects relating to awareness and advocacy
  • Develop learning material and learning content on disability awareness
  • Act as a supportive and reliable resource for students with disabilities
  • Hire a volunteer team and establish presence of committee on campus and within ASUS (i.e., through social media)
