Duties and Responsibilities:
As a member of the POLS DSC, you will be required and expected to:
- Attend all weekly meetings.
- Attend all DSC-run events.
- Increase student engagement by promoting all DSC events via word of mouth and social media.
- Actively and enthusiastically contribute to all DSC discussion and decision making during meetings.
- Be a valuable team member. Assist other members with their assigned tasks whenever necessary. Offer your help and time to active projects when you are in-between tasks.
- Strive to promote and strengthen the DSC’s relationship with students by actively participating in initiatives with these goals.
Positions and Descriptions:
Grade Representatives
- As the representative of your year, you must introduce yourself to all students in core POLS courses and professors early in the semester (i.e. Pols 110, 250, 385 & 385 and selected fourth-year seminars) – this way they get a sense of who you are. To start, this is done by creating Facebook group-chats for the core courses and sending a formal introductory email to the instructor(s) of these courses.
- Distribute information and graphics about DSC events to professors to be distributed to students via lecture slides or onQ.
- Act as a reliable, active, and enthusiastic liaison between the DSC and the students: Receive, respond, and convey students concerns or suggestions.
- Be a friendly and informed peer. Be able to answer DSC-related questions from peers of your year, as well as forward concerns to the appropriate party in the DSC.
‘Events and Outreach’ Coordinator
- Planning, executing, and organizing DSC-run events, including Semi-Formal.
- Learning and understanding the ASUS budget system for DSCs in order to properly budget for large events that require spending, space rental, etc.
- Following the instruction of the Events & Outreach Directors.
- Contribute ideas to make events run optimally.
- Be an engaged, supportive, and helpful member of the Events & Outreach team.
