Religious Studies DSC Members (positions below).

The Religious Studies Student Council serves as the representative body for students within the department, aiming to foster an inclusive, academically enriching, and community-driven environment. Each member collaborates to promote the department's events, initiatives, and student engagement. Members work together to enhance student life through marketing, event planning, advocacy, and equity-driven initiatives.

Applications will remain open until Thursday, October 3rd at 4PM, 2024.

Expected Time Commitment and Remuneration

Roles and Responsibilities

Marketing Director

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote department events, initiatives, and opportunities.
  • Manage the department’s social media presence, ensuring consistent communication with students.

Events Director

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all department-related events, including academic and social gatherings.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including venue bookings, catering, and event promotion.

EDI+I Director (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization)

  • Promote and implement strategies for enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the department.
  • Lead initiatives that support marginalized and underrepresented groups in the department.

First Year Representative

  • Represent the interests and concerns of first-year students, acting as their voice within the council.
  • Help with first-year engagement by organizing specific events and creating opportunities for integration into the department.

Second Year Representative

  • Advocate for second-year students’ needs and contribute ideas to improve their academic experience.
  • Assist in planning events that encourage second-year student participation and engagement.

Third Year Representative

  • Represent third-year students and ensure their voices are heard in council decisions.
  • Support upper-year students by helping organize career talks, internships, or professional development events.

Fourth Year Representative

  • Act as a liaison for fourth-year students, focusing on academic support and graduation preparation.
  • Help organize events related to post-graduate planning, such as networking sessions or graduate school workshops.
