Advisory Board Directors (6)

The ASUS Advisory Board is the oversight body for the Society. It consists of 9 directors and 1 chair, who is appointed by the Board at the beginning of the term. Effectively acting as a Board of Directors, it is an objective third-party that provides strategic advice and financial oversight. The Board is an appellant body which will oversee and decide on any appeals of Human Resources and the CEO. The Board is also responsible for resources/personnel as well as the maintenance and distribution of a discretionary fund of approximately $100,000. As a student director, successful applicants will have the opportunity to be intimately involved with the running of ASUS, work closely with the ASUS Executive, Commissioners/Officers, and work to ensure the long-term financial and strategic stability of the Society. Among their other responsibilities, Advisory Board Directors award the Society’s requests for financial assistance. The board meets approximately once every 3 weeks to work on these tasks and ensure productivity.

Applications will remain open until a competitive candidate pool is established. The closing date will be determined based on the volume and quality of received applications.

Expected Time Commitment and Remuneration

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly meetings of the Board and Committees
  • Work within committees to create Society Strategic and Plans and solve Governance and Policy issues
  • Meet with an ASUS Commissioner or Officer once per month to provide financial oversight and strategic guidance
  • Review all applications for financial aid and provide diligent and thorough feedback
  • Provide financial and strategic guidance to the Society
