Honorarium Position

The Director of Student Affairs Research is responsible for assisting the ASUS President and Vice President with advocacy-related research. They will work with them to discover and analyze different advocacy opportunities on campus. They will work with the Executive to determine what data can best advance the student perspective on such issues. The Director will create a plan to produce the best possible data for use in both Executive, Faculty, and University Advocacy. The Director will work to produce this data, and any other data that they feel is useful while remaining flexible with respect to changing advocacy priorities. The Director of Student Affairs Research will work to collaborate with (but not limited to) the ASUS President, Vice-President, ASUS Council, the Market Research Team, ASUS Assembly, and the Equity Commission’s Research and Recommendation Committee in order to best execute their research.

Eligible candidates must have paid the Arts & Science Undergraduate Society Membership Fee.

12-month term from May 1st, 2024 to April 30th, 2025 with a time commitment of 5 hours/week.

An honorarium of $600 is awarded to the director should they complete all required duties.

Time Commitment and Responsibilities

  • Holding five (5) office hours at ASUS Office with at least (1) office hour held during the office hours of the President;
  • Developing a strategic plan and budget with the Executive;
  • Conducting research pertaining to student affairs issues on campus along with the Executive, Faculty of Arts and Science, and other stakeholders (i.e. Student Wellness Services), pertaining to the experience and concerns of Arts and Science students;
  • Liaising with relevant student and university governance bodies to determine the best method of carrying out advocacy projects.
