Honorarium Position
The ASUS Appeals Resource Centre aims to support students in their academic appeals cases. The roles and responsibilities can include outlining the existing academic procedure and regulations, providing feedback on the case being made, assisting in writing clarity, and supporting the student in revising an academic appeals letter. The role supports students in putting forward their best case possible. These positions make academic regulations comprehensive and student friendly by providing a peer-to-peer lens.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

  • 12-month term from May 1st, 2024 to April 30th, 2025 with a time commitment of 5 hours/week

Time Commitment and Responsibilities

  • Undergo training from the Ombuds office and Student Academic Success Services prior to assuming the role;
  • Provide students with a clear explanation on existing academic regulations pertaining to their situation and overarching appeals process;
  • Hire and lead a team of volunteers that also support students through regulations;
  • Proof read student appeal letters by using check-lists provided by SASS and the Ombuds office;
  • Periodical meetings with the Academics Commissioner and President as check-ins on an as-needed bases ;
  • Refer students to other sources of help and assistance as necessary;
  • Support students through the appeals process through a peer-to-peer lens.
