Honorarium Position

Overview

The Students of Colour (SoC) Collective aims to advocate for and act as a safe space for racialized students within Arts and Science to organize initiatives and events that focus on amplifying the voices of racialized students through an intersectional approach. The SoCC will mainly operate to create safe spaces for racialized folks at Queen’s through collaborative events and initiatives with other racialized groups on campus. The Students of Colour Collective will achieve these goals through panels, forums, and creative workshops, as well as through collaborative measures with other social justice groups on campus and within the community at large. SoCC will strive to educate students on the intersectional issues faced by racialized communities, while also creating a space for individuals of all within the Society.

Application Deadline

Positions will remain open until enough candidates have applied. Once this happens, all applicants will be notified.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

Term: May 1st, 2025 – April 30th, 2026

Hours: 2-3 hours per week

Honorarium: Awarded based on the Honorarium Grid in the Human Resources Policy (Click here)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co-chairs will work together to conduct hiring, lead, and manage a team of individuals (Ex. General Members Coordinator, Communication Coordinator, Marketing Director, Events Coordinator, Graphic Designer, etc.)
  • Hire a volunteer team and establish presence of committee on campus and within ASUS (i.e., through social media or through boothing)
  • Co-chairs will spearhead events and various initiatives which aim to foster support for all racialized Queen’s students
  • Co-chairs will oversee and support all logistics, marketing, finances, communications, and collaborations among other committee duties
  • Act as a supportive and reliable resource for BIPOC students and students within racialized communities at Queen’s
  • Working and collaborating with other groups on campus that represent racialized students to establish a community for students such as Yellow House, Queen’s Student Diversity Project, and more!
