VOLUNTEER POSITION

The Queen’s Science Undergraduate Research Journal is an annual, peer-reviewed publication that seeks to enrich the student experience through engagement in the scientific community. Founded in 2015, QSURJ is an open-access journal that allows students to contribute through the systematic review and dissemination of undergraduate research in the scope of the health sciences. The mandate of QSURJ is two-fold: to promote and highlight the remarkable research output of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science and to provide support to students aiming to become involved in the undergraduate science research community. The QSURJ academics liaison’s role will include interacting with faculty, administration, and relevant student groups to coordinate attendance at QSURJ programming; constructing and working with the Faculty Review Board on review of published material; and assisting Editors-in-Chief with planning and execution of QSURJ programming. Approximate time commitment is 3-4 hours per week.

Time Commitment and Responsibilities

An approximately 8-month term from September 2022 to April 2023 with a time commitment of 3-4 hours per week

  • Plan initiatives for QSURJ to be a major academic resource for students
  • Work with student representatives, marketing directors, and department student councils to promote events and workshops put on by the journal
  • Plan and implement a free lecture series to inform students about various topics in health care
  • Attend bi-weekly management team meetings
  • Follow all ASUS policy as outlined in the ASUS Policy Manual
  • Complete evaluations and attend evaluations meeting
